Jamie Vardy’s emotional message to departing Leicester City CEO Susan Whelan speaks volumes
Jamie Vardy has penned a personal thank you to Leicester Cityโs departing chief executive Susan Whelan for believing in him when he doubted himself and โleaving a markโ on his life.
Whelanโs exit after 15 years at the club was announced on Thursdayย in what is one of the most significant leadership changes atย Cityย since King Power took charge.

All of Vardyโs long and successful City career came with Whelan as chief executive and heโs written that both praises her and thanks her for the impact sheโs had on his career and his family.
Vardyย references his issues with self-doubt that came at the beginning of his City career, when he stepped up from non-league to become the clubโs number nine.
He said on Instagram: โItโs hard to imagine Leicester without Susan. Sheโs been such a constant presence, not just in her work but in the way sheโs poured her heart into the people around her.
โSusan has given so much of herself: time, energy, passion, loyalty. She stood by people, worked tirelessly, and always went above and beyond, not because she had to, but because thatโs simply who she is.
โThose of us who know Susan personally know her value goes far beyond titles and positions. She is a force of kindness and clarity, a friend who listens without judgement and speaks truth with courage.
โOn a personal level, I canโt thank Susan enough for everything she did for me. She believed in me when I doubted myself, she encouraged me when I was struggling, and she always had the right words at the right time.
โHer kindness, honesty and wisdom have left a mark on my life that Iโll carry with me always.
โThank you, Susan, for everything youโve done not only for me personally but also my family. Youโve made a bigger difference than youโll ever know. We wish you all the success for the future.โ
